This is a vintage 1956 Martin D-21 acoustic guitar, SN 150xxx. I had it appraised by " The World's Premier Guitar Store" in Nashville, with a current market value at ($7,000). I've been told it has Brazilian rosewood back and sides and finger board, a solid mahogany neck, spruce top and the original tortoiseshell pick guard. It has NEVER BEEN REFINISHED OR OVER-SPRAYED, the bridge has not been shaved or altered and absolutely NO repairs except the minor repairs I'll describe here. The instrument is TOTALLY original except for the Grover tuning keys I had replaced in the early 70's. The old tuners were crappy. I have personally owned this instrument for over 40 years. I purchased it from the original owner in or about 1969 or 1970. It was my major instrument until about 1990 when I switched to mandolin, since then it has sat in the case. The guitar is in excellent playing condition with all the normal dings and bumps for a 54 years old instrument. The neck is perfectly straight with no issues and the original frets are in a pretty good / playable condition. To be honest, if I were to keep it, I'd have it re-fretted. However, the instrument plays and sounds wonderful as is. The neck angle, in my opinion, is fantastic and does not need a reset. Please see the close up pictures showing the string height. I have more close ups if you want. I'm sure your local luthier may with differ with me. Again, this is subject to your personal playing preferences. There is one small ding on the front that I had repaired at locally in Seattle, a small crack in the side; and the big wide strum pick wear on the top near the sound hole. Please see the close up pics for details. There is absolutely no structural issues with this instrument. The sound is the classic sound of instruments from this period. When you feel it in your hand you will know you have the real thing. If that is what you are looking for, here it. A rare find at fair price and a good instrument for playing and a good investment. These are rare and increase in value every year. I will except Paypal only, buyer pays all fees, shipping and insurance cost. Comes with Martin hardshell case.
Here's the weasel words and my disclaimer. This is a used instrument, sold as is, I've described as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Any questions or correction please feel free to contact me. Thanks for looking and good luck in your bidding.
