Greetings! PLEASE CHECK ALL MY AUCTIONS! For sale is a 1919 C-Melody saxophone "The Martin." This is all original, including the neck, cap, and contoured case. A vintage C-Melody mouthpiece is included. The serial number is 17633, making this one of the first 500 or so Martin horns ever made, depending on how you reckon the numbers. The tone holes are soldered on, but not beveled. One tone hole was neatly soldered this century, since originally it leaked at the base. Damage to the instrument is minor. There are 3 small dents on the bow. The largest of these is 1/2" long and about 1/16" deep, pictured. The bell has one small dimple. The neck has 2 small dimples and a couple of nicks, hard to see in the pictures. The case is well built and in good shape with bits of the false leather torn here and there. The handle is wrapped with electrical tape to hold it together. The velvet inside is an unflattering green, and the fragrance of this very old saxophone is typical. The finish is the original brass, as pictured. The pearl rollers all work fine. The pads are some original, some replaced. This horn plays as is, but you will want to have the action refined and regulated by a competent technician.
