Presenting a 1967 Martin T-28 Brazilian Rosewood Tiple with original hard shell case.
How cool is this? I've never seen one before in this wood and it is Amazing. The Tiple (pronounced Tea-Pleh) is the Spanish word for soprano. It is a ukulele style instrument - but with a huge, powerful voice like a mandolin.
Description:
The huge sound is no surprise considering the beautiful Martin Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, Adirondack spruce top, and slotted headstock. You just can't find wood like this these days. Ebony bridge, ebony fretboard. It has the expected very light checking to the finish and appears all original in all respects. There is one very slight area of damage to the top side binding on the lower bout. Neck is smooth and clean and clear of any dents or damage. Tuners are all original and all function well. There are no signs of repair or refinishing. This Tiple is tuned up to pitch and plays with very nice low action - no string buzz at all. The setup is perfect as is. It plays great (although I am limited in my Tiple playing abilities - see the video below. You HAVE to hear this instrument.
The body is 9" across the lower bout, 6 1/2 " across the upper bout, and only 12" long. The neck is 12 frets clear to the body.
History of the Martin Tiple:
The Tiple has appeared in various design and string configurations dating back as far as the 18th Century and appearing in Puerto Rico, Columbia, Spain, Africa and Cuba to name a few. In 1919 C.F. Martin & Co. got into the act with their version. This one has 10 strings in 4 courses, tuned similarly to a Ukulele - Gg cCc eEe AA, or a 1/2 pitch higher to Aa, dDd, f#F#f# BB, which is how this one is tuned in the video on our page.
As a unique sound for your next recording, or a rare and desirable addition to your collection, you must consider adding this Tiple to the stable. It's small and does not take up much room
The original hard shell case is in very fine condition and is included in this sale.
I'll let the pictures and video do the rest of the talking. Please email me with any questions before bidding.
Payment Terms:
Due to recent "gee I can't pay you right away" situations, I feel compelled to say, if you don't have the money in your Paypal account right now to buy this guitar, please do not take it off the market from others. I'd love to sell you this guitar, but it is not fair to other buyers to put an offer in and then ask me to wait two weeks to get paid. Unless you make prior arrangements with me that I agree to in advance, all sales MUST be paid in full within 3 days or the deal will be cancelled and I will re-list the item.
International Bidders:
Because of the collectibility of this instrument, I will ship internationally, but I will have to get a proper quote for you so please inquire BEFORE BUYING if you are an international buyer. International bids will be cancelled unless you contact me prior to bidding.
No Returns:
I have had some abuse of my returns policy so going forward I will not accept returns on my eBay sales. I will gladly supply more photos or live play testing video of any guitar, or speak with you on the telephone to help you make an informed purchase decision. I have very strong references on my sales that speak to the high quality of guitars that I'm selling here on eBay.
Offers:
Some of my listings are "Make Offer" listings, but please don't bother offering me 50% of my asking price. My pricing is fair for the make, model and condition of the guitars that I sell. Having said that, if you feel my pricing is out of line on any guitar listed, feel free to email me and point it out - we all make mistakes sometimes!
About Me:
I am a lifelong guitar player and collector and I only deal in guitars that I am proud to own in my own collection. My prices are not the lowest on ebay, so if you are looking for a steal of a deal on a guitar you are not going to find it here. You will find great guitars at fair market prices. Every guitar that I sell is personally selected, service and play tested by me to be sure it is right.
Thank you for considering this beautiful instrument for your collection.
