A member of the dreaded French Connection line with Rene Robert and Perreault, Richard Martin set the NHL on fire as a goal scorer in the 1970s. He set a then NHL rookie record, with 44 goals in 1971, and averaged 42 goals per season for the decade. Martin was a member of Team Canada in the 1972 Summit Series and the inaugural Canada Cup tournament in 1976, and he played in seven straight NHL all-star games from 1972 to 1979.
