Vintage Martin Guitar

 A terrific project for a skilled you or your favorite luthier.  This is a 1931 Martin model C-2 in need of a new top.  The 000-sized C2 had a body of Brazilian Rosewood with a carved, arched Spruce top featuring a trapeze tailpiece and a floating, adjustable bridge (tailpiece and bridge not included).  A popular retro for this model is to replace the top with a flat-top.  This one got started but never got anywhere other than removing the top.  Aside from the newer Grovers, the neck is in great shape; it's back is near pristine.  The fingerboard section which sits over the face has 2 cracks in it, but the rest of the ebony fretboard is in very good shape.  There is a thin crack in the board in first position under the D string.  At some point (10/78) luthier Roger Sadowsky did repairs to this guitar.  There was a long crack in the back on the treble side which was patched as evident in the first and fifth photos.  (the back braces are included with the guitar)  The neck block looks good; the end block has a crack running across it. The frets have no doubt been replaced.  The remains of the top will be included as well as a wooden pickguard which was probably a replacement.  Serial number 48218 pegs it as a 1931.  Also included is an older hard-shell case which may or may not be original.  For further info about this model, google 'Martin C-2'.
