Vintage Martin Guitar

Vintage 1970's Martin D-18 Acoustic Guitar with Original Case and Strap!!!

We are selling this classic model guitar for a friend who has had it packed in a closet, in its case, since the mid-'70's. According to her, the guitar was an inheritance from a relative who had passed shortly after acquiring it. The current beginning bid is the owner's lowest asking price!

The neck block carries the serial number #349161, which, according to our research, places its production somewhere around 1974. The interior back is branded "C.F. Martin Nazareth, PA". The scroll/pegbox has "Martin & Co est. 1833" inscribed on top.

Another friend who deals in guitars (we are not guitarists) examined it and put the condition in these terms:  "Condition on a scale of 1-10 is a 9. Very lightly played. Neck is slightly splayed--needs truss rodding. Looks like the original strings. Nice original pegs and bridge. Pick-guard a little heat-warped--easily fixed/replaced. Cosmetic varnish damage from exposure to acids in shoulder strap (The instrument was stored for 40 years with the shoulder strap attached in case). Body in excellent shape--no cracks or apparent scratches.Needs about $100. conditioning/set up to be a 10. This is in beautiful vintage condition".

Here are the statistics we noted: Total length 40.5" Body 20" high. Belly width 15.5". Shoulder width 11.5". String-length 25.5". Neck length 20.5" Body width tapers 4.75"-3.75" "Squared"shoulders, 6 strings, Two-piece back. Back and sides either mahogany or rose-wood. Top spruce. Black trim, double-purfling at edges and beautiful purfling around sound-hole. Ivory-style bridge & nut. Mother of pearl fingerboard-dots.

Back finish is slightly marred by heat contact w/no-longer-attached strap (please see photos). Pick-guard warped at edges, especially near bridge.

Case is hard plastic, grey-blue exterior with royal blue plush lining. One accessory pocket. Case dimensions: 43.5"L 17.5"W 6.5" Depth.Five latches. Multi-colored strap.
