This Martin Committee is in EXCELLENT+ CONDITION!!! Serial# 156XXX. I bought this horn from the original owner. He purchased it new in 1946 after getting out of the Army. A few years ago he had Amado water keys put on and they look and work fine. He did not have the slides replated after the new keys were added, so there are small spots where the original braces were removed. They are hardly noticeable. The original braces and keys will be included in the sale. There was also a tiny pin-hole in the knuckle going into the third valve from the main tuning slide. This was EXPERTLY covered with a nickel patch. It is hardly noticeable, but you should know this. This was the gentleman's main horn, and he played it a lot over the years. As some of you might know, the lacquer used by the Martin company had a reputation for "cracking and flakeing" off. This horn was no exception, and even though there was never any trauma or damage to the trumpet, he did not like the look of the horn after the lacquer began to flake off. Sometime around 1976-77, he took the horn to the SCHILKE factory to have the remaining lacquer stripped off. This was when the Schilke company was still located on Wabash Avenue in Chicago. Since Schilke only did silverplating, that is how this Committee ended up silverplated. He also had the valves re-plated and re-fitted by Schilke and they are flawless! This is a MEDIUM BORE model. Even though the horn has had a few modifications, it still has that great, warm Committee sound! The case is not original and it's not in great shape, but it will protect the horn during transit. The third slide finger ring is not original, but works fine. NO MOUTHPIECE is included.
