DESCRIPTION
Martin has continuously made these little size 5 guitars well back in to the 19th century. Sometimes regarded as learner guitars for rich kids or something just suited for airline travel. It is actually a TERZ instruments, which means it is made to be tuned a perfect third above standard pitch. You can do this because string tension is inverse to scale length-- and this guitar has a very short scale length. Played above pitch you hear what it is really supposed to sound like: ie., very sweet, chimey, and slightly percussive. Marty Robbins (god bless him) probably never played it right. On the other hand Sting very much does tune his correctly and uses it for nearly 50% of his present stage act. Fits in a 1/2 size case (which I don't have). You can buy a functional chipboard for cheap; also, Elderly can get you a genuine Martin Geib 314 arched hard shell-- probably well worth the expense for this really really nice old guitar. In any case I will pack it carefully and double box.

Plays great with wonderful sweet soprano voice. Recent professional neck was reset was done very well; angle is good; string height is 3/32 on the bottom.

CONDITION

Definitely has MOJO-- play wear, dinks, and scratches. Finish is dry, heavily checked in some places, but sound and sturdy. No serious cracks but a couple small dents on the side bouts were repaired and are pretty innocuous. Aside from this the whole guitar is good and sturdy, needs no work, and is ready for another 50 years of good service.
Please examine the photos carefully. I will respond quickly to questions or requests for additional photos.

SHIPPING

$35 anywhere in the continental US for excellent packing in a 275 PSI guitar box and full insurance with UPS ground service (3-5 days). USPS Priority International shipping with full insurance: CANADA: $60-- EUROPE: $90-- JAPAN AND AUSTRALIA $100.
