Here is a 1975 Penco Model A-160 acoustic guitar. These guitars were made in the same factory as the high end early Ibanez instruments in the Hoshino Gakki Factory. A lot of cool guitars came out of that factory. The Ibanez guitars were distributed on the west coast and the Pencos on the east coast. From what I have seen over the years, Penco made a lot more acoustic instruments than solid bodies and most of them have been really good guitars. It's easy to see why they have such a large following being a Japanese made guitar. This particular model might be the most sought after of the penco line. It is a copy of an early Martin D-28 of the golden years.
Play-ability is great. It's set up with medium gauge strings and has nice firm string tension. The neck is a medium soft V. It's very comfortable and the same shape as an early martin. There is virtually no fret wear and it plays like a new guitar. No buzzing, no warping, structurally this guitar is 100% perfect.

The guitar is in very well cared for condition. It has very light surface scratches and fingerprints all over the body but It's a high gloss finish so they show pretty easy. There's two areas where the finish is hazy on the back, it's very light and could use a polish but I thought i'd mention it. There is a tiny nick the back that's the only spot where the finish wouldn't buff out. You could if you wanted, buff it and it would be as good if not better that most new guitars in guitar stores. I just want to make it clear this guitar is well cared for but has been used lightly over it's 36 year life. It is rare though to find a no issues one.
Lastly, This guitar has Grover tuners on it. I suspect they are not original but make it stay in tune really nice.
Thanks for looking!
