This is one beautiful sounding vintage D-18.........
That you can score for a great price. This 1958 Martin D-18 is crack free, and mostly all original. It has a loud projecting tone and voice that you would expect for an old Martin, and has plenty of years of great playing left to her. Serial 170xxx.
Cosmetically there are no cracks or breaks on the body or neck. The only modification is a professionally fulled hole on the bottom side of the body, (done by our luthier), where a 1/4 output jack was installed many years ago and removed. The plug is tight, and the 4 tiny holes that secured the plate were also professionally filled. This is no way effects the tone or playability of the guitar. (see pics). The bridge pins are newer replacements as well, and not original to the guitar.
There is a goos amount of finish checking from normal age as well as some player wear and marks. This guitar was played, but not abused. The previous owner was a cowboy with a big belt buckle that wore it's way through the finish on the rear. The pics, should give you an excellent idea.
The original frets are still in good shape, and this guitar is freshly out of the luthier shop where it got a professional set-up and action lowered. It is ready to play now just as she sits and needs nothing. Included is a period, (maybe original), chip case. Take a look at the pics, and you can click on any of them for a closer view. I'll let them say the rest.
Here is a chance to score this vintage Martin for almost half of the bluebook price. The FIRST BIDDER gets it, after adding an additional $75 s/h/i in the Upper 48 US States. (This will ship by UPS, and the insurance cost will be high). Final sale. We ship by UPS, so no PO Boxes, please. NJ residents add 7% sales tax to the total.
Some international bidders may be considered, but please email me for a shipping quote before you bid and for permission to bid. Due to the high declared value of this item, we may not be able to obtain full insurance value for this by US Post depending on the insurance limitations for your country. I can ship this by UPS International with full insurance but the rate will be much higher. Email me and we can discuss the options.
Local pickup is welcome in Hammonton, South New Jersey, Zip 08037 if you want to Mapquest it. Hammonton is 30 minutes East of Philadelphia, Pa and about 1.5 hours South of New York City.
Let me know if you have any additional questions, and I'll respond. Check my perfect feedback, and bid with confidence. I pack and ship like a pro, and know my vintage guitars. Thanks, Joe
