Vintage Martin Guitar

Hello and welcome to my auction! You’re looking at a beautiful 1953 Martin D-28 Guitar! (SN: 133866) This guitar is in really good shape for being 57 years old!! It has a beautiful piece of Engelmann "Mystery Spruce" (that martin used '52-'53) for the top, gorgeous Brazilian rosewood back, sides, neck, fingerboard & headstock! It has been refinished a long time ago, I'd guess early to mid 60's. It blacklights good but don't let that fool you, it has been refinished. There were at one point different tuners on it that used a larger washers (pictures) but no extra holes were drilled nor are the holes any wider. I have purchased the correct 1950's Kluson "ridgeback" tuners and installed them on the guitar, there NOS (new old stock) and that is why there so shinny. The incredible boomy, rich & full sound that this guitar produces, tells me that was made to be played!!!

Has a very straight neck, Alan Perlman neck reset, the frets are original with plenty of life left. This guitar has been VERY well cared for, however it does have some checking on the top, a small crack underneath the E string and below the pick-guard (almost every D28 thats this old, has these). Kluson "ridgeback" tuners work well and there are no structural issues. Comes with a nice Martin HSC w/ key.
